'Birds & Beasts' is the highly anticipated debut LP by Melbourne's Grand Prismatic. Almost 2 years to the day since the Lo-Fi Pop and Gentle Psychedelia of their initial EP 'Sad Seagulls & Sleaze-Gaze', the band have refined and strengthened their approach, and pursued an ambitious trajectory. 'Birds & Beasts' is the culmination of that ambition.
Drawing from a diverse pool of influences, including Spiritualized, Wilco, Low, Augie March, and The Drones, 'Birds & Beasts' was recorded in a cavernous, dusty Community Hall in Myrtleford, country Victoria. The 12 songs forged therein are deeply imbued with the spacious, breezy warmth of the old building and surrounding countryside, and all manner of sunshine, birdsong and dusty footfalls.
Recorded and Mixed by Damian Clarkson (Producer of Penguins, Pop Singles, Psalm Beach) for Melodies Sound & Music, and Mastered by the legendary Mark Kramer (Producer of Galaxie 500, Low, Daniel Johnston) at Noise Miami, Grand Prismatic have produced a rich, cohesive and evocative statement on debut.
'Birds & Beasts' launches at The Grace Darling Hotel on Saturday, November 17th.
